GOVERNANCE & REPORTING
Light a Candle operates by the council and direction of a legal non-profit board. The board governs the financial and operational procedures and ensures that every facet of the organization comes into compliance with IRS laws and regulations.
The board also stewards the spiritual direction of the organization and brings clarity to the visions going forward.

Donation Refund Policy
Thank you for your gift to Light A Candle. Your generosity puts food in hands, medical care in reach, and hope in dark places, and we take that trust seriously.
Because we put donations to work quickly, gifts to Light A Candle are non-refundable. Once a gift is received, we count on it and begin using it toward our work in Iraqi-Kurdistan, India, and the nations we serve.
When we will consider a refund:
The charge was duplicated
You meant to give a one-time gift, and a recurring donation was set up by mistake
Timeframe
Refund requests must be submitted in writing within 30 days of the donation date. We are not able to process requests made after that window, except in cases of unauthorized or fraudulent charges.
How to request a refund
Email us at hello@lightacandle.global with your name, the donation date and amount, and a short description of what happened. We will respond within 3 business days.
A few things to know
Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, no exceptions. If you were issued a tax receipt for the gift, that receipt will be voided, and you are responsible for letting your tax preparer know if you already claimed the deduction.
